I thought I hated fashion. I was a bigger bodied child in the 90s. I shopped in the old lady stores by the time I was in middle school. I wanted to try different styles but it didn’t exist in my size.

In the next twenty years, I spent all that time in ill fitting clothes in questionable prints (and slowly transitioned to nothing but black). In 2025, I decided something has to change. I was going to do a no buy year for clothes.

Instead of buying, I learned to make the clothing I wanted to purchase. And in one year, I picked up skills in alterations, pattern making, and upcycling. Family and friends were my first clients and I was hooked. I didn’t think of making it into a business until our plumber said he needed some pants altered. Thanks to Dean, E&E Stitchery started!

E&E Stitchery is named after two incredible women who just happen to be my grandmothers: Evelyn and Ernestine. Evelyn is the business brain – she has.a knack for finding quality. Ernestine was a teacher and a seamstress – she taught my mom the basics of sewing, and my mom passed that knowledge down to me!
